Armavir
Argishtikhinili was a major Urartian city built in the 8th century BC on the Ararat plain, and its ruins — walls, foundations and fragments of the settlement — can be explored freely on a 1-hour walk. Best done April through October when the dirt-road access is easiest, it's a quiet stop for visitors interested in Armenia's pre-Christian history.
