Aragatsotn
Dashtadem's basalt fortress, dating back over a thousand years near Talin, is one of Aragatsotn's lesser-known historic sites, its dark stone walls still standing largely intact above the surrounding plain. A one-hour walk through the ruins is free and best done April through October on the unpaved approach road, rewarding visitors with a quieter, less touristed alternative to Amberd.
