Gegharkunik
High in the Geghama mountain range above Sevan, this demanding 8-hour trek reaches ancient vishap stones — dragon-shaped monuments thought to be among the oldest in the Caucasus — along with scattered petroglyphs carved into the volcanic rock. Free to hike and only feasible July through September when the high-altitude route is clear of snow, it's one of the most substantial archaeological hikes in the region.
