Mount Aragats north summit climb

At 4,090 m, Aragats's north summit is Armenia's highest point and a proper mountaineering day out rather than a casual walk. The 12-hour round trip climbs from Lake Kari across steep scree and snow patches that can linger into summer, so a reasonably fit hiker with mountain experience — and ideally a local guide — will get the most out of it. Best attempted July through September when conditions are most stable, the reward is a 360-degree view that takes in the whole Aragats massif and, on clear days, Mount Ararat itself. There's no fee, but this is the hardest and longest hike in the region, so start early and check the weather carefully.
