Vayots Dzor
This 3-hour hike climbs to Smbataberd, a 10th-century fortress perched on a clifftop between the villages of Artabuynk and Yeghegis. Free to hike and best done May through October, it's one of Vayots Dzor's most rewarding historical hikes, combining a genuine climb with dramatic ruins.
