Swimming in Lake Kari

Aragatsotn

About

Lake Kari's glacier-fed water stays close to freezing even in midsummer, so a swim here is a short, bracing plunge rather than a leisurely float — but the setting, ringed by Aragats's volcanic peaks at 3,200 m, makes it worth the shock. Best (and really only bearable) in July and August, and free to do, it's a memorable add-on to a day at the lake.
