Botanical Garden of Yerevan is a scientific,eco-educational, educational and recreational institution. The main aim of which is to import different valuable and decorative plants, to create a scientific collection, to discover the adaption of the plants in new ecological conditions and the most important goal is to include the planting of green in cities and residences.

The Garden was opened in 1935 by the prominent scientists A.Maghakyan, A.Hakhverdyan, and N. Mirzoeva. it is situated in the northeastern part of Yerevan, in Acharyan str.1. It occupies around 80 hectares of semi-deserted area. The collection includes more than 200 species of endemic, rare and declining plants.

In the different gardens are presented interesting plants, wild herbs, valuable and decorative species, and many others. Besides that, in a separate collection are presented 200 species of wild plants of Armenia. Botanical Garden is a unique recreational center for the population of the capital and the country.

Here are also presented various rare and disappearing species of plants which are nearly 70 types. 38 of them were included in the Red Book of Armenia. Rare types of growing plants are


Much of the collection consists of the Family Cupressaceous and Varieties, Pinaceae, Caprifoliaceae, Oleaceae, Rosaceae and etc. In the garden you can see the greenhouse collection, there are growing about 100 species of woody and herbaceous plants, a strong old “Grape” type liana and feijoa with beautiful silvery-red blossoms in spring and aromatic fruit. Next to them grows avocado, which has been circulated in Central America. In the 4 ha area were created 16 models of Armenia's planting community that are on the edge of disappearing. Recently enriched the dendro-collection, tropical and sub-tropical planting fund nearly 30 species.

Botanical Garden is a unique garden having a national value which has a history for more than 80 years. The Garden in its scientific composition and character has international fame and is considered to be one of the leading scientific institutions in the area.

It is a great place to visit; you can come here on a picnic with your friends and family. There are certain places where you are allowed for a picnic, in the garden you see the greenhouse collection, there are growing about 100 species of woody and herbaceous plants, a strong old “Grape” type liana and feijoa with beautiful silvery-red blossoms in spring and aromatic fruit. Next to them grows avocado, which has been circulated in Central America. There are also different types of orchids from Japan, China, and Mexico.

In the garden, there is a special rose collection with more than 20 types of 800 bushes. It is a perfect place for rose lovers. The Garden includes 4 arboretum which is a special area where are presented the collection of growing trees, bushes, and other plants the open ground conditions. Here are growing the representatives of Causcaus, Crimea, Sibir, Eastern Asia, Japan, Korea, Northern America, and Europe.

It is a great place to visit; you can come here on a picnic with your friends and family. There are certain places where you are allowed for a picnic. And, of course, this is a lovely place for wedding photoshoot. The entrance fee is 300 AMD.
